The Encore can grind at its finest settings for stovetop moka pot and basic espresso — and many home baristas use it this way. However, it is primarily designed and optimised for filter and manual brewing methods. The stepped adjustment at the fine end doesn't offer the micro-adjustment resolution that serious espresso dialling-in requires. If espresso is your primary method, the Baratza Encore ESP (designed specifically for espresso with a dual-range grind system and M2 burrs) is the better choice. The Encore's burr carrier removes without any tools — simply lift out the top burr assembly for access to both burrs. A cleaning brush (included) removes grounds from the burr chamber and exit chute. The grounds bin and hopper are also removable and can be hand washed. Baratza recommends running a grinder cleaning tablet through the Encore periodically to remove coffee oil buildup from the burrs and chamber. Full cleaning takes around 5 minutes and should be done every 1–2 weeks for regular home use.
